I was taking a dance class here in Berlin, and one of the girls was having trouble keeping up. When the instructor tried to help her, she insisted she was fine, that she was just expressing her own style.

The instructor corrected her: “That’s not your style. That’s your limit.”

It struck me, that the work of mastery is not only to make accessible that which is beyond our reach, but to legitimize that which is within it.
